EP Plenary session – State of the Union

On September 15, will be held in Strasbourg the debate on the state of the European Union.

It is an annual event of fundamental importance to promote a more transparent and democratic Union. It supposes the inauguration of the political course after the summer recess. The President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will address the European Parliament to present the work carried out by the European Commission during the last 12 months, as well as future plans.

This annual event constitutes a key occasion in the rendering of accounts before the representatives democratically elected by the citizenship and represents an opportunity to bring the European Union closer to its citizens, highlighting the main points of action and challenges of the year.

This year’s debate will focus on key issues, such as social and economic recovery, strengthening health systems, fighting poverty and climate change, or defending human rights, among others.

HOW TO FOLLOW IT? On Wednesday 15 September, at 9 am, Parliament will offer the debate live on its website in the 24 official languages ​​of the EU. It will also be available on Facebook.
