The aim of the Jean Monnet Programme is to promote excellence in teaching and research in the field of European Union (EU) studies worldwide. The aim is to foster the dialogue between the academic world and society, including state level policy makers.

Actions supported by the programme generate knowledge and ideas that can support EU policy-making and strengthen the role of the EU in a globalised world.

In particular, the EU studies cover the study of Europe as a whole, with special attention to the process of European integration, taking into account both internal and external aspects. It also seeks to promote active European citizenship and European values and to address the role of the EU in a globalised world.

Active outreach and education to spread knowledge about the EU among the wider society (beyond academia and the specialised audiences) bringing the EU closer to the general public is also being promoted.

Among the different types of activities included in the Jean Monnet Programme in the field of teaching and research, there are Chairs and Modules.
